Implemented Interstate Realty Management Company Educational Foundation in 1990. (Over $1,800,000 in scholarships for higher education awarded to residents; all residents in good standing may apply.) IRM Social Services personnel served as speakers and workshop leaders at local, state, regional and national housing conferences between 1990 and 2007 including HUD Conferences, NAHMA Conferences, Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency Supportive Services Conferences and New Jersey Mortgage and Housing Finance Agency Conferences. Wister Townhouses in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania chosen by the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA) as its first Community of Quality. Numerous annual winners including Williamsport Elderly Housing and Park Springs Apartments in 2008. Three Interstate properties in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania represented the City of Philadelphia in the Safe Neighborhood Action Program (SNAP). Montgomery Townhouses, Haddington Townhouses and Kensington Townhouses. Recipient of HUD’s Best Practices Award for comprehensive program at Montgomery Townhouses in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Pedestal Gardens in Baltimore, MD and Atlantic Villas Apartments in Atlantic City, NJ also received Best Practices Awards. Recipient of HUD’s Champion of Change Award in 2005; Recipient of HUD’s Award of Excellence for supportive services 2001; Recipient of HUD’s Outstanding Achievement Award in 1999. Recipient of Resolutions from the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Resolutions from the New Jersey State Legislature. Social Services Programs and Coordinators at Winteringham Village and Rowan Towers awarded the Governors Award of Excellence in Housing in New Jersey. Implemented first on-site safe home program in the 1990’s. In 1992, Village Park was featured on Nightly News with Tom Brokaw for their “Family Matters” parenting program. Began organizing crime watches on properties in 1989; (First crime watch in Monks Corner, South Carolina at Northbridge Courts was so successful, the City decided to organize the entire city into crime watch groups.) Crime watch group organized in 2007 at Halfway Manor in Hagerstown, Maryland, praised by the City of Hagerstown, local law enforcement officials and the County Board of Commissioners of Washington, County, Maryland. Timberland Apartments has been praised by the Mayor of Williamsport for their Crime Watch efforts, as well as their “Gathering of Neighbors” community group, both of which were organized to combat crime and violence.
